Throughout the Prairies Small Business Centre (PSBC), we support entrepreneurs and professionals through advocacy, education, leadership, networking, skill building, economic development, programs and empowerment.
Role Overview:
The Camp Counsellor is responsible for ensuring the safety, engagement, and personal development of youth participants through mentorship, activity facilitation, and skill-building initiatives. This is a dynamic role suited for individuals passionate about youth leadership and community service.Key Responsibilities:
Mentor youth participants in developing soft skills and reaching learning goals.
Plan and lead weekly group activities that are educational and enjoyable.
Support participants’ use of digital tools and maintain related equipment.
Collaborate with other staff to align on shared camp goals and initiatives.
Conduct assessments and track participant progress throughout the program.
Create inclusive, engaging environments that support personal growth.
Document activities, incidents, and achievements consistently and accurately.
Integrate creativity into camp planning to make learning fun and meaningful.
Qualifications:
Full-time post-secondary student in Social Work, Education, Recreation, or Community Support.
Fulltime Student, returning to school.
Experience or interest in working with vulnerable populations.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to plan and implement structured programming.
Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suites, social media and technology).
Responsible, empathetic, patient, and motivated to make a difference.
Time Commitment:
Full-time summer position

About the Program
The Bilingual BCW Hair and Beauty Workforce Integration Program for French Newcomers supports newcomer women in building sustainable careers in the hair and beauty industry. The program combines technical skills training with language instruction, employment readiness, and wraparound supports to enhance economic integration and long-term success.
Role Summary
The EAL Instructor will deliver targeted English language instruction to French-speaking newcomer participants (CLB Levels 5–6), while also supporting employment readiness and job placement outcomes. This role integrates language training with workplace preparation, ensuring participants are equipped to secure and retain employment in the hair and beauty sector.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging EAL lessons tailored to adult learners at CLB 5–6 proficiency levels
Provide contextualized language instruction relevant to the hair and beauty industry and workplace environments
Work collaboratively with the Instructional Designer to align curriculum, learning outcomes, and instructional materials
Deliver employment readiness training, including workplace communication, job search strategies, and interview preparation
Support job placement activities, including employer engagement and relationship building
Coordinate and support employer information sessions, interviews, and hiring processes
Guide participants in job search techniques, including cold calling and outreach to employers
Work closely with the Bilingual Technical Instructor and Practicum Supervisor to ensure alignment between language training, technical skills development, and workplace expectations
Assess learners’ language levels and track progress using appropriate tools (e.g., CLB benchmarks)
Develop lesson plans, learning materials, and activities aligned with program goals
Create a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment
Provide individualized support and feedback to participants
Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and learner progress
Participate in team meetings and contribute to program improvement
Undertake other duties and tasks that support the effective functioning and day-to-day operations of the organization, as required
Core Experience
Experience teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL) to adult learners, particularly intermediate levels (CLB 5–6)
Experience delivering employment readiness or workforce integration training
Experience working with newcomer, immigrant, or refugee populations
Experience in employer engagement, job placement, or career coaching (asset)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Linguistics, TESL, or a related field
TESL certification (TESL Canada or equivalent) preferred
Strong understanding of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
Ability to assess and support learners within CLB 5–6 range
Ability to work with bilingual (French-English) learners

The Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of the program, ensuring successful delivery of training, participant support, and employment outcomes. The role involves program development, stakeholder engagement, participant recruitment, and performance tracking, working closely with instructors, partners, and employers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead staff onboarding, training, and coordination, including essential skills alignment across the team
Support EAL and employment readiness curriculum development in collaboration with instructional staff
Develop and implement a marketing and outreach strategy to recruit participants
Coordinate the preparation and setup of BCW Community Training & Practice Spaces in Edmonton
Develop and manage participant assessment tools, intake forms, and attendance tracking systems
Lead outreach, recruitment, and pre-screening of participants for program intake
Conduct participant assessments to finalize cohort selection and enter participants into required government databases
Manage participant intake processes, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with reporting requirements
Lead employer engagement and partnership development to support job placements
Coordinate employer information sessions, interviews, and hiring processes
Support participants in job search activities, including cold calling and employer outreach
Oversee program delivery timelines and ensure alignment across instructional, technical, and practicum components
Coordinate graduation activities for Cohort 1, including program surveys and participant interviews
Conduct 90-day follow-ups and outcome tracking for reporting and program evaluation purposes
Compile and support program reporting requirements, including performance metrics and outcomes
Collaborate with internal staff, including EAL Instructors, Technical Instructors, and Practicum Supervisors
Undertake other duties and tasks that support the effective functioning and day-to-day operations of the organization, as required
Core Experience

About the Black Girls Empowerment (BGE) Program
BGE is a suite of programs that supports Black girls and young women through pillars such as self-development, leadership, mentorship, community connection, and skills-building. Programming spans multiple age groups and includes initiatives such as Black Girls Corner (ages 12–15), Black Girls Leadership (grades 10–12), Inner Child Series (ages 6–11), and a S.T.E.A.M. project that provides hands-on learning and exposure to Black women in STEAM fields.
Role Summary
Advisory Board Members provide strategic guidance, community insight, and program support to help strengthen BGE’s impact and ensure programming remains culturally grounded, responsive, and relevant to the needs of Black girls and young women.
Key Responsibilities
Provide input on BGE program direction, priorities, and community needs
Collaborate with fellow board members to set strategic goals and objectives.
Offer guidance on culturally responsive approaches and youth-centered best practices
Support partnership development and community outreach (as needed)
Attend advisory meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making
Champion the mission of BCW In Action and the goals of BGE within your networks
Contribute to fundraising efforts and donor relations.
