About Us:
BCW In Action is a bilingual, non-profit organization and registered charity committed to making a difference in the lives of women, girls and families in Black Canadian communities.
BCW in Action's vision is to promote the empowerment of Black Canadian women, girls and families in all sectors of society. BCW In Action promotes cultural activities specific to our communities, which gives a sense of belonging in the Canadian Society. By building bridges, partnerships and collaborations with other communities and organizations, BCW advances the cause of Black women, girls and families.
Throughout the Prairies Small Business Centre (PSBC), we support entrepreneurs and professionals through advocacy, education, leadership, networking, skill building, economic development, programs and empowerment.
Role Overview:
The Camp Counsellor is responsible for ensuring the safety, engagement, and personal development of youth participants through mentorship, activity facilitation, and skill-building initiatives. This is a dynamic role suited for individuals passionate about youth leadership and community service.Key Responsibilities:
Mentor youth participants in developing soft skills and reaching learning goals.
Plan and lead weekly group activities that are educational and enjoyable.
Support participants’ use of digital tools and maintain related equipment.
Collaborate with other staff to align on shared camp goals and initiatives.
Conduct assessments and track participant progress throughout the program.
Create inclusive, engaging environments that support personal growth.
Document activities, incidents, and achievements consistently and accurately.
Integrate creativity into camp planning to make learning fun and meaningful.
Qualifications:
Preferred: Bilingual in French & English
Full-time post-secondary student in Social Work, Education, Recreation, or Community Support.
Fulltime Student, returning to school.
Experience or interest in working with vulnerable populations.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to plan and implement structured programming.
Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suites, social media and technology).
Responsible, empathetic, patient, and motivated to make a difference.
Time Commitment:
Full-time summer position
Must be available for orientation and all scheduled camp dates.

Job Title: Employment Readiness Coach (ESL & Workforce Integration) – Bilingual Hair and Beauty Workforce Integration Program

About the Program
The Bilingual BCW Hair and Beauty Workforce Integration Program for French Newcomers supports newcomer women in building sustainable careers in the hair and beauty industry. The program combines technical skills training with language instruction, employment readiness, and wraparound supports to enhance economic integration and long-term success.
Role Summary
The Employment Readiness Coach (ESL & Workforce Integration) will support French-speaking newcomer women in preparing for and securing employment in the hair and beauty industry through employment coaching, workplace readiness training, job search support, and targeted English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction.
Working with participants at Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Levels 5–6, the Coach will help strengthen workplace communication skills, build employment competencies, and support successful transitions into the Canadian labour market. The successful candidate will work closely with participants, employers, technical instructors, and program staff to achieve employment and retention outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver employment readiness workshops and one-on-one coaching.
Support participants with resumes, cover letters, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
Provide workplace-focused ESL instruction and communication training.
Build relationships with employers and identify job placement opportunities.
Coordinate interviews, recruitment activities, and employer information sessions.
Monitor participant progress and maintain program records.
Collaborate with program staff to support participant success.
Participate in team meetings and other program activities as required.
Undertake other duties and tasks that support the effective functioning and day-to-day operations of the organization, as required
Core Experience
Experience delivering employment readiness, career coaching, or workforce integration programs.
Experience teaching ESL/EAL to adult learners.
Experience working with newcomer, immigrant, or refugee populations.
Experience in employer engagement or job placement is an asset.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, TESL, Career Development, Human Services, or a related field.
TESL certification or equivalent is an asset.
Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is an asset
Strong understanding of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).

What BCW Is Looking For
BCW In Action is seeking licensed professional beauticians / hairstylists / hairdressers who can support women participating in the program by providing hands-on training, mentorship, and supervised salon experience to help participants build skills and accumulate required hours toward licensing (where applicable).

Key Responsibilities
Provide hands-on coaching (styling, client care, sanitation, professional standards)
Supervise and mentor participants in practical sessions/salon environments to support skill-building and experience accumulation
Share real-world career and business insights (pricing, client retention, professionalism, workplace readiness)
Provide feedback and support participant progress across the training period
Collaborate with BCW team to ensure a culturally responsive and supportive learning environment
Qualifications
Licensed beautician and/or hairdresser (journeyperson/Red Seal, etc)
Teaching, coaching, or mentoring experience is a strong asset
Comfortable supporting newcomers and/or women re-entering the workforce
Strong communication skills and a supportive and informed approach
Ability to host or support practical hours (in-salon or workshop format), depending on cohort needs
Experience working with textured hair

We are seeking a Hair Training Facilitator to lead hands-on hair care and styling workshops for women in a supportive and inclusive environment. The facilitator will teach practical hair techniques, share industry knowledge, and guide participants in developing skills that build confidence, creativity, and potential income-generating opportunities.
The ideal facilitator has experience in one or more areas of hair care and styling, such as braiding, natural hair care, wig making, hair treatments, or professional styling. They should be patient, engaging, and passionate about mentoring and empowering women through practical learning. Prior teaching or facilitation experience is an asset but not required.
This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy sharing their hair expertise, inspiring others, and contributing to community-based skill-building programs.
